Flower Patterning Problem

Students worked in small groups to solve the following problem...

I see 12 flowers in my garden.  The 1st flower is RED.  The 2nd flower is YELLOW.  The 3rd flower is BLUE.  If this pattern continues, what colour will the 12th flower be?  (Show your thinking using pictures, words and/or numbers).

Groups used different math manipulatives (e.g., dominoes, cubes, teddy bears, links, etc) to create a model of the flower garden pattern.
