Our word family of the week last week was the -at Family. We had -at Family words hidden around our room and students did a 'write the room' activity where they found the hidden words and recorded them on their clipboard page next to the correct picture. They also filled in missing -at words to complete some simple sentences and did a cut and paste activity where they matched the -at word to the correct -at picture.

Letter Sound / Word Work
Our letter/sound of the week last week was Ss. We brainstormed a list of 46 words that start with the letter Ss. We came up with some 'spectacular' words like 'scrumptious'! We showed the number 46 in a tally using tick marks. We also practiced printing the letter Ss nice and neatly. We are learning about how tall letters touch the 'sky line' at the top, short letters stay under the dotted 'road line' in the middle, and tail letters hang down below the 'grass/dirt line' at the bottom.
