Orange Shirt Day

Today, September 30th is important in the residential school experiences of
First Nation, Metis and Inuit people as this was the date when children would
be removed from their homes to attend residential school.
The last remaining Residential School in Canada closed only 21 years ago,
in 1996. Thank you to my students who wore an orange shirt with pride
today! We are making a difference by showing that we CARE about
ALL PEOPLE, no matter their race, colour, or culture. WE ALL MATTER and
must be treated fairly.  We will continue moving forward in the spirit of
reconciliation and respect.
Thank you for helping us remember!!
